What is Purpur?
Purpur is a fork of Paper that adds even more configuration options and gameplay tweaks. It's a drop-in replacement for Paper — every Paper plugin works on Purpur — but it gives server admins much finer control over gameplay mechanics.
What Purpur adds over Paper
- Hundreds of additional config options in
purpur.yml - Per-world settings for many features
- Built-in gameplay tweaks (e.g. ridable mobs, totem balance, anvil tweaks)
- Configurable mob behavior and AI
- More fine-grained control over redstone, pathfinding, and entity ticking

Purpur vs Paper
If you're not using any of Purpur's extra features, there's no real difference between Purpur and Paper. Purpur is essentially "Paper with more options". See our Purpur vs Paper comparison.
Plugin compatibility
Every Bukkit, Spigot, and Paper plugin works on Purpur. Purpur uses the same APIs as Paper — it just adds more on top of them.
