How to Install Plugins on Your Free Purpur Minecraft Server
Purpur uses the same plugin system as Paper, so installing plugins works exactly the same way. Here's the process for your free FreeMCServers.org Purpur server.
Step 1: Find a plugin
All Bukkit, Spigot, and Paper plugins work on Purpur. The biggest sources:
- Modrinth
- Hangar (Paper's official plugin marketplace)
- SpigotMC Resources
Step 2: Upload via the file manager
- Open your FreeMCServers.org dashboard
- Click your Purpur server
- Go to Files → plugins
- Drag and drop the
.jarfile
Step 3: Restart
From the dashboard, click Restart. The plugin will load on the next startup.
Step 4: Use Purpur's extra config
Beyond standard plugin config, you can also tune purpur.yml in the server root for hundreds of additional gameplay options. Read the comments in the file or visit purpurmc.org for the full reference.
Recommended plugin set
The standard Paper plugin set works great on Purpur:
- Vault
- LuckPerms
- EssentialsX
- WorldEdit
- CoreProtect
See our best Paper plugins guide for full details — it all applies to Purpur too.
Common issues
- Same as Paper — version mismatches, missing dependencies, conflicts
- Purpur-specific configs not loading — make sure you're editing
purpur.ymlin the server root, not a backup
